Pinkas Chevrah Gemarah in Libau. Founded in 1865. Illustrated title page, Foreword written & signed by their Rabbi Yosef the son of Eliyahu Herzenberg dated 1865.


Many pages Torah novelle in his hand. Volume continues with copies of his correspondence with the Gaonim of his generation, amongst them Rabbi Chaim of Brisk.


Followed by many paged novelle of his son Rabbi Eliyahu Herzenberg. Who also corresponded with many of the sages of his generation amongst them the Sdei Chemed, The Admor Rebbe Mordechai Yosef Eliezer Leiner of Radzyn, Rabbi Meir Lerner of Altona.


Responsa, Letters & sermons when he served as a Rabbi in Brooklyn from 1903 onwards. Responsa of the Gaon Rabbi Chanoch Henich Hausdorff (1855-1911) of Baltimore.


Letter with Torah Thoughts of R.Tzvi Yehuda Bienenfeld.


Rabbi Yosef Herzenberg was born circa 1815 Piltene, to his father Rabbi Eliyahu who served as a Rabbi & Dayan.


He served as Rabbi in Piltene from 1850 until 1856 when he exchanged places with Rabbi Menachem Mendel Israelson Rabbi of Libau (Today Liepāja, Latvia) where he served until his passing in 1882.


His son Rabbi Eliyahu was born in 1847. in 1901 he already served as Rabbi of Beth Hamedrash Anshei Kurland in Brooklyn. Afterwards he served as Rabbi of Beth Hamedrash Hagadol in Williamsburg, he passed away in 1913 & was buried in Queens, Ny.
