Early to Mid 18th Century AD A smoothbore flintlock pistol, likely produced in the Balkans for the Ottoman market in the first half of the eighteenth century. The blackened barrel and firing plate are intricately decorated with golden vine motifs and Arabic calligraphy. Guns produced in the Balkans like this example often used European firing mechanisms and barrels.
