FRENCH INFANTRY SABER BRIQUET SWORD MODEL AN XI - Ca. AD 1800 An icon of the French arsenal during the Napoleonic Wars, this infantry saber is referred to as a briquet. The hilt is one piece of cast brass with a D-shaped guard and a ribbed handle, and the guard has been stamped with inspection marks ”P” and ”D”. There is also an unclear stamp on the ricasso.
