AMERICAN FRATERNAL MASONIC TEMPLAR SWORD BY AMES - Ca. Late 19th century AD A Masonic sword presentation sword made by the Ames Manufacturing Company of Chicopee, Massachusetts. The gilt brass pommel is in the shape of a knight’s helmet, the cross guard features an American eagle, and the ebony grip handle has an inserted brass cross. Both the blade and the brass scabbard are engraved with images, including further crosses and Masonic imagery. The ricasso and scabbard are both marked ”AMES MFG. CO. CHICOPEE MASS”, and the scabbard is engraved with the words ”IN HOC SIGNO VINCES” (”In this sign, thou shalt conquer”).
