GANDHARA STATUE OF A SEATED BUDDHA - Ca. AD 100 - 400 A stone statue of a Buddha seated on a short plinth decorated with lotus flowers. He is shown with typical long earlobes, dressed in simple clothing with his hair tied into an ushnisha top knot. His hand is posed into the Abhayamudra, a symbol representing peace, protection and dispelling of fear. Size: 470mm x 300mm; Weight: 16.7kg Provenance: From the collection of a London gentleman; formerly acquired in the early 2000s in France; previously in 1970s European collection. This item has been cleared against the Art Loss Register database and comes with a confirmation letter. This piece is accompanied by a historical report from Alessandro Neri, an international Cultural Heritage expert based in Florence, Italy.
