CHINESE TANG DYNASTY TERRACOTTA COURT OFFICIAL - TL TESTED - Ca. AD 618 – 907 A Chinese terracotta sancai court official. The figure is standing upright upon a pedestal, hands clasped in front, wearing an amber robe beneath a splashed glazed breastplate. The figure remains unglazed from the neck up. The face is depicted wth a stern expression and topped with a tall official's hat detailed with a bird. This piece has been precisely dated using a Thermo Luminescence analysis carried out by Ralf Kotalla. The report will accompany the lot. Size: 780mm x 160mm; Weight: 5.4kg Provenance: East Anglian private collection; formerly acquired in the early 1990s in Hong Kong. This item has been cleared against the Art Loss Register database and comes with a confirmation letter.
