A Vintage Chinese Silk Wall Floral Panel - A beautiful matted hand-embroidered silk panel from 1920’s/30's. A large bold blue flower in the center is surrounded by mysterious bats from two corners and floral designs on orange background. Further encased by geometrical designs. The Panel is seated on a beige silk background with geometrical designs. Ca. 1920's/30's. Provenance: Collection of Edward Hyers Clayton (1886-1946). American writer and missioner. E.H. Clayton and his wife were missionaries of the American Baptist Foreign Mission Society in charge of Wayland Academy, a missionary school in Hangzhou, China from 1912 to 1942. E.H. Clayton wrote a book Heaven Below based on his living experience in China. Dimensions: 15 X 15 in.
