AN ANTIQUE 19TH CENTURY CHINESE BLUE CELADON VASE - A celadon-glazed vase with a bulbous body on a raised base, tapering to a tall narrow neck in a sky blue glaze. Ca. 19th century. Provenance: A collection of Edward Hyers Clayton (1886-1946, an American writer and missioner. E. H. Clayton and his wife were missionaries of the American Baptist Foreign Mission Society in charge of Wayland Academy, a missionary school in Hangzhou, China from 1912 to 1942. E. H. Clayton wrote a book ”Heaven Below” based on his living experience in China. Dimensions: H: 11 1/2 in.
