LOT OF MODERNIST INK PAINTING SIGNED PAPAS FRAMED - A lot of two Modernist ink paintings on paper depicting a village view and a village genre scene. Each is signed, Papas, and inscribed in Greek, Sinerikon Synodikon Shelter Theory Terrion, and dated 82, lower right. Both are framed. William Papas, 1927 to 2000, was a highly acclaimed South African-born artist, political cartoonist, and illustrator known for his rapid, energetic line work, particularly in pen, ink, and watercolour. He is perhaps best known for his work in the 1960s and 1970s for British publications such as The Guardian, The Sunday Times, and Punch.
