ROMAN EMPEROR GALBA PORTRAIT OIL PAINTING FRAMED - An oil painting on canvas depicting a portrait of Roman Emperor Servius Sulpicius Galba after engravings by Aegidius Sadeler, which, in turn, were made from the lost Twelve Caesars series of portraits by the famous Italian artist Titian. Titians original series was destroyed in a fire in Madrid in 1734. Galba is depicted in profile, wearing a laurel wreath and holding a scepter. An inscription in the upper corner contains the emperors name and brief historical information. Probably inscribed upper right. Framed.
