Louis Dembitz Brandeis, 1856 to 1941, was an American lawyer who served as an associate justice on the Supreme Court of the United States from 1916 to 1939, dubbed the Peoples Lawyer. He insisted on taking cases without pay so that he would be free to address the wider issues involved. He was a prominent figure in the Zionist movement.
