ANTIQUE RUSSIAN ICON KAZAN MOTHER OF GOD IN SILVER RIZA - An antique Orthodox icon of Our Lady of Kazan and Saint Matrona on the right field. Russia, 18th century. Hand painted in egg tempera with applied gold leaf on a gessoed wooden panel, covered with decorative material on the reverse side. The icon is covered with a gilt silver oklad or riza with fine chased and repousse patterns. Assay mark of 1796, the city of Kaluga, assay master N.K.
