ANTIQUE 19TH C RUSSIAN SILVER ICON CHRIST PANTOCRATOR - An antique 19th century Russian Orthodox icon depicting Jesus Christ in the Pantocrator iconography, known in Western Christianity as Christ in Majesty. Mixed media painting: egg tempera, gesso, and levkas on a wood board. The icon is enclosed in a silver riza or oklad with repousse and embossed silver, and with an applied high-relief halo. Comes in a wooden kiot case. Hallmarks: 84 silver standard, the Cyrilic makers mark IV, an assay mark under the date 1874, George the Victorious for Moscow. are on the bottom part of the riza.
