ANTIQUE ENGRAVINGS BY WILLIAM WILLIAMS OXFORD COLLEGES
Three antique engravings by William Williams, fl. 1724 to 1733, each presenting architectural and historical depictions of Oxford University colleges and halls. The first, Collegium Reginense, Queens College, features a detailed plan with a key and scale, flanked by a coat of arms with three griffins and a dedication cartouche to Rev. I. Gibson, with a Latin history beneath. The second engraving, Aula S. Albani, St Albans Hall, shows a façade with gabled windows and classical columns, above a plan with key and scale, and accompanying historical text. The third, Aula B. Mariae Magdalenae, Magdalen College, includes a grand elevation, architectural layout with key and scale, a cartouche dedicated to Digby Cotes, and a historical Latin inscription.
