ROCKWELL KENT SIGNED LITHOGRAPH PRINT GREENLAND MOTHER - Rockwell Kent, American, 1882 to 1971, a limited edition lithograph print, Greenland Mother Nursing Child, 1934. Signed in pencil lower right: Rockwell Kent. This print was issued as publication no. 5 in October 1934 by the Cleveland Print Makers to its membership in the Print-A-Month, series 3, 1934-35. Published: The American Book Collector, summer 1964. Note: Rockwell Kent was an American painter, printmaker, illustrator, writer, sailor, adventurer and voyager. Around 1920 Kent took up wood engraving and quickly established himself as one of the preeminent graphic artists of his time. Throughout the 1920s and 1930s, Kent produced a range of print media, including advertisements, bookplates, and Christmas cards. Kents satirical drawings, created under the pseudonym Hogarth Jr., were published in popular periodicals including Vanity Fair, Harpers Weekly, and Life. In 1937 the artist was commissioned by the Federal Public Works Administration to paint two murals for the New Post Office in Washington, DC.
