SIGNED FERNAND LEGER FRENCH CUBIST OIL PAINTING - Fernand Joseph Henri Leger, French, 1881 to 1955, oil painting on paper. Signed lower right. The painting depicts a woman and a female robot against the backdrop of an industrial cubist cityscape. The artwork bears the stamps of the Fernand Leger Museum in Biot on the back side. Joseph Fernand Henri Leger was a French painter, sculptor, and filmmaker. In his early works he created a personal form of cubism known as tubism which he gradually modified into a more figurative, populist style. His boldly simplified treatment of modern subject matter has caused him to be regarded as a forerunner of pop art. One of a kind artwork. Dimensions 12 1/4 x 8 3/4 in.
