DUANE DISHTA AMERICAN KACHINA FIGURES OIL PAINTING - Oil on canvas painting by Duane Dishta, 1946 to 2011, an American artist descending from the Zuni Pueblo people. An active member of Zuni community, Dishta is known for his depictions of traditional rituals and Kachina dances. A Kachina is a spirit being in religions of the Pueblo people. Hopi and Zuni peoples have ceremonies in which masked men, also called Kachinas, play an important role. This lot depicts four Kachina characters in townscape scenery.
