ALBERT BIERSTADT AMERICAN LANDSCAPE OIL PAINTING - An antique 19th century oil painting on board depicting a mountainous landscape by Albert Bierstadt, German American, 1830 to 1902. Signed lower left. Housed in an ornate gilt wood and gesso frame. Albert Bierstadt was a painter best known for his lavish, sweeping landscapes of the American West. He joined several journeys of the Westward Expansion to paint the scenes. He was not the first artist to record the sites, but he was the foremost painter of them for the remainder of the 19th century. One of a kind artwork.
