Edgar Alwin Payne, American, 1883 to 1947, an oil on board painting depicting a seascape with a sailboat. Housed in a gilt wood frame with a metal name plate below. Edgar Payne was a renowned American artist and muralist associated with California Impressionism. largely self-taught and earned critical acclaim in his lifetime for his varied depictions of the infinite landscape of the American West.
