1977 AMERICAN NAUTICAL ETCHING BY ALAN JAY GAINES
Etching on paper by Alan Jay Gaines, born 1942, an American artist and printmaker specializing in nautical subjects and trains. The artwork depicts a steamboat in the port. Titled The River Steamboat Robert E. Lee. Dated 1977 in the lower left. Signed by the artist in the lower right. This etching is third in the series of four artworks, titled Historic Ships of America, commissioned and published by the Franklin Mint Gallery of American Art. The artwork comes with a certificate of authenticity. White mat, golden frame. The Robert E. Lee steamboat was the best-known of the palatial craft of 19th-century America. In 1870, it set a record by covering the distance from New Orleans to Missouri in 3 days and 18.5 hours. Collectible Graphic Art Prints, Americana, Nautical Maritime Art.
