Commissioned by the Hadassah Hebrew Medical Center, Chagall created these works as maquettes for a series of stained glass windows to be installed in the Centers synagogue outside of Jerusalem. Mark Zakharovich Chagall is a Russian and French artist of Jewish origin. In addition to graphics and painting, he was also engaged in scenography, wrote poetry in Yiddish.
