VIETNAMESE WATERCOLOR PAINTING ATTR MAI TRUNG THU - Watercolor on silk painting attributed to Mai Trung Thu, 1906 to 1980, a Vietnamese artist based in France, member of the first class of the Ecole des Beaux Arts de l Indochine in Hanoi along with Le Pho. The painting depicts a girl in a long white dress with a blue fan in her hand. Artists signature, date 1940 and red seal in the lower right. Main subjects of Mai Thu were women, children and daily life, incorporating traditional Vietnamese conceptions about fine and folk arts. Collectible Oriental Fine Art, Southeast Asian Artists.
