ANTIQUE 19TH CEN RUSSIAN CHRIST PANTOCRATOR ICON
An antique Russian Orthodox hand painted icon of Christ Pantocrator. The icon depicts Christ holding the New Testament in his left hand and making the gesture of teaching or of blessing with his right surrounded by Saints. Mixed media painting: egg tempera, gesso, and levkas on a wood board. The icon is a central to southern Russian work on a gold background. Circa: the second half of the 19th century.
