19TH CEN RUSSIAN ELIJAH THE PROPHET ST GEORGE ICON
An antique Russian Orthodox icon representing Elijah, also named Ilyas or Ilya in Orthodox tradition, the Old Testament prophet and Saint George. Mixed media painting: egg tempera, gesso on a wood board with gold leaf halos. The characters are named in Church Slavonic in the upper part. Circa: the first half of the 19th century.
