VIETNAMESE GOUACHE ON SILK PAINTING BY MAI THU
Gouache and ink on silk painting by Mai Trung Thu, 1906 to 1980, a Vietnamese artist based in France, member of the first class of the Ecole des Beaux-Arts de l Indochine in Hanoi along with Le Pho. The artwork depicts a portrait of a woman in beaded necklace. Ca. 1950s to 1960s. Artists signature and seal in the upper left. Moire mat, silver-tone frame. Main subjects of Mai Thu were women, children and daily life, incorporating traditional Vietnamese conceptions about fine and folk arts. Collectible Oriental Fine Art, Southeast Asian Artists.
