JAPANESE SATSUMA PAINTED BUTTERFLY PORCELAIN BOWL
An antique Japanese Satsuma hand painted porcelain bowl. The exterior of the bowl is adorned with medallions representing courtyard scenes and blossoming flowers with butterflies surrounded by a floral motif. A base is decorated with a gilded foliage ornament. The interior of the bowl is adorned with a hand painted one thousand butterfly motif with gilded accents. Marked with a seal, and a red ink Calligraphy, on the bottom. Circa: early 20th century. Provenance: Private Collector, Rhode Island USA, Acquired Before 1961.
