Signed in Cyrillic and dated 1932 lower left. Unframed. Nikolai Krymov Russian and Soviet painter and teacher. Artist of the RSFSR 1956, corresponding member of the USSR Academy of Arts 1949. Born into the family of the artist P. A. Krymov, who painted in the manner of the Wanderers. If in his early works Krymov was fond of symbolism with its characteristic mystery in his paintings, and tried his hand at primitivism and impressionism, then in his later creative period he still leaned towards classical landscape. At the same time, he began to increasingly draw landscapes from memory or invent them, although before that he loved to draw what charmed him during his next walk or trip.
