Robert Michael Mapplethorpe, American, 1946 to 1989, sheet fed gravure photograph depicting a portrait of Louise Josephine Bourgeois, 1982. Printed in 1990s, Japan. Unsigned. Louise Josephine Bourgeois, 1911 to 2010, was a French American artist. Although she is best known for her large scale sculpture and installation art, Bourgeois was also a prolific painter and printmaker. Robert Michael Mapplethorpe was an American photographer, best known for his black and white photographs. His work featured an array of subjects, including celebrity portraits, male and female nudes, self portraits, and still life images.
