WORLD WAR II JAPANESE POW INK PAINTINGS C. 1948
A set of 2 Japanese Female Portraits hand drawn ink paintings created circa 1946 - 1948, by the Luzon Japanese prisoners of war (LUPOW) established near Mt. Makiling, Luzon, Philippines for Japanese POWs after the surrender of Japan in WWII. The present collection belonged to Pvt. Vernon E. Palmer on the back, who was a US Army Soldier turned USAF airman who served in Tokyo, Japan during this time. It is unknown who specifically drew these sketches by names, as it is usually on trench art pieces. The quality and historical interest drawn by these artworks is absolutely remarkable. World War II militaria and collectibles. Japanese folk art.
