Philippe Halsman, American, 1906 to 1979, a double photograph portrait featuring Pablo Picasso on the left and Marc Chagall on the right. This iconic image was published in the December 1998 issue of ARTnews, showcasing the remarkable talent and distinctive personalities of two of the most influential artists of the 20th century. Inscribed to the back. Halsman was a portrait photographer. He was born in Riga in the part of the Russian Empire which later became Latvia, and died in New York City.
