ANTIQUE FRENCH ENGRAVING AFTER PHILIPS WOUWERMAN
An antique French School engraving on paper, Drinking Entry, after the original by Philips Wouwerman also Wouwermans, Dutch, 1619 to 1668. Engraved by C.N. Cochin. Tiled and inscribed in the plate, lower to the center. Signed in the plate, lower right and left. Philips Wouwerman also Wouwermans was a Dutch painter of hunting, landscape and battle scenes.Philips Wouwerman was one of the most versatile and prolific artists of the Dutch Golden Age. Embedded in the artistic environment and tradition of his home town of Haarlem, Wouwerman made an important and highly influential contribution to the canon of seventeenth century Dutch painting.
