FRENCH THREE DANCERS GICLEE PRINT AFTER EDGAR DEGAS
A vintage giclee print, Three Dancers, after the original painting by Edgar Degas. Inscribed in the print, Degas, lower right. Inscribed, Vue de dessus, Top View, upper right. Framed. In Edgar Degass Trois danseuses, Three Dancers, 1880, three ballerinas stand away from us with their backs turned, seemingly unaware of the artists and viewers gazes. Using pastel and charcoal to masterfully highlight the effects of stage lights and shadows, the present work emphasizes the artist’s fascination with the simplest moments, and movements, of everyday life, and his preoccupation with the human body. Edgar Degas, 1834 to 1917, was a French Impressionist artist famous for his pastel drawings and oil paintings. Degas also produced bronze sculptures, prints, and drawings. Degas is especially identified with the subject of dance; more than half of his works depict dancers. Although Degas is regarded as one of the founders of Impressionism, he rejected the term, preferring to be called a realist. European Graphic Art Prints and Collectibles. Weight 3.9 lbs.
