RUSSIAN HAND PAINTED WOODEN MUSIC BOX W PAINTING
A Russian vintage lidded music box with a miniature painting by Palekh. On the lid of the box, there is a reproduction of the painting by Grigory Sedov, The Choice of a Bride by Tsar Alexei Mikhailovich. Inscribed Russian Collection under the painting. The musical mechanism is located inside. A wavy rhythmic pattern around the surface on a black background. Palekh painting is a well known type of Russian folk arts and crafts that arose in the 17th century from Russian icon painting traditions and is a Russian miniature painting with tempera paints on wooden objects.
