FRENCH INTAGLIO ENGRAVING AFTER JEAN FRAGONARD
After Jean Honore Fragonard, French, 1732 to 1806, intaglio engraving heightened with watercolor by J. Matthieu, Le serment damour, or The oath of Love, circa the late 18th century. Jean Honore Fragonard was a painter and printmaker whose late Rococo manner was distinguished by remarkable facility, exuberance, and hedonism. One of the most prolific artists active in the last decades of the Ancien Regime, Fragonard produced more than 550 paintings, of which only five are dated. French Engravings And Art Collectibles.
