Achille Emile Othon Friesz, French, 1879 to 1949, oil painting on canvas depicting a still life with flowers. Signed lower right. Framed. Achille Emile Friesz is known for Fauve and traditional painting, landscape, still life and figure. Achille Emile Othon Friesz, who later called himself just Othon Friesz was a native of Le Havre, was a French artist of the Fauvist movement. He painted in a manner that respected Cezannes ideas of logical composition, simple tonality, solidity of volume, and distinct separation of planes. A faint baroque flavor adds vigor to his landscapes, still lifes, and figure paintings. One of a kind artwork.
