1968 OIL PAINTING ATTR TO GERTRUDE ABERCROMBIE
Attributed to Gertrude Abercrombie, American, 1909 to 1977, oil painting on masonite depicting a seashell, titled Shell by the Ocean, 1968. Signed and dated lower left. Framed. Called the queen of the bohemian artists, Abercrombie was involved in the Chicago jazz scene and was friends with musicians such as Dizzy Gillespie, Charlie Parker, and Sarah Vaughan, whose music inspired her own creative work.
