An acrylic on canvas painting, after a 1993 artwork titled Thinking Pumpkin by Yayoi Kusama, Japanese, American, born 1929. The artwork depicts a white and black pumpkin in a polka-dot pattern against an abstract background. Signed and dated 1993 on the backside. Pumpkins are an iconic symbol for Kusamas work, which she often uses in both painting and sculpture. Framed. Yayoi Kusama is a Japanese contemporary artist who works primarily in sculpture and installation but is also active in painting, performance, video art, fashion, poetry, fiction, and other arts. Her work is based in conceptual art and shows some attributes of feminism, minimalism, surrealism, Art Brut, pop art, and abstract expressionism, and is infused with autobiographical, psychological, and sexual content.
