CHARLES WALTHER ABSTRACT AMERICAN OIL CRAYON PAINTING
Charles H. Walther, American, 1879 to 1937, an oil crayon painting on paper depicting a Cubist abstract composition. Signed, on the backside. Framed. Paper labels of Creatively Custom Framed by Oierce Archer ltd., and Produced by a Member of The Guild of Master Craftsmen, on the backside. Abstract painter and leader of avant garde artists in Baltimore in the early 20th century. Walther studied in Paris in 1906 to 08, and after returning to Baltimore collaborated with J. Wilmer Gettier in designing stained glass for several Baltimore churches. He is known for abstract, still life, and landscape. One of a kind artwork.
