An antique American Art Deco ladies evening handbag by Whiting and Davis. Ca. 1920s. Mesh purse enameled with a floral pattern in black, blue, and yellow. Marked Whiting and Davis Co Mesh Bag Pat US on the inside of the frame. Chain handle. The Whiting and Davis Company is an American brand established in 1896. In 1892 Charles Whiting designed the first mesh bag, with all rings formed and joined by hand, which later became the signature of the brand.
