ANTIQUE FRENCH CHINOISERIE GILT BRONZE TEA SET C 1900
A fine quality antique French Chinoiserie style bronze tea set comprising four pieces, a tea caddy and three cups made of beautifully patinated bronze inlaid with relief and gilded adornments, depicting various birds and insects. The lidded tea caddy is decorated with inlaid relief of gilded phoenix, pheasant, lizard and patinated insects and features a detailed figurine of a mythical lion karashishi as a finale. The larger cup shows flying seagulls and floral motifs, two smaller cups are decorated with gilded images of butterflies, dragonflies and other insects. Apparently unmarked. Circa 1900.
