An intricate antique Russian silver gilt decorative tray of an oval form, raised on four ball feet, the surface is decorated throughout with translucent varicolored patterns and a beautifully detailed central scene depicting a bird and a butterfly among blooming flowers made in a plique-a-jour enamel technique. Plique-a-jour is a technique, in which the enamel is applied to the membranes in a thin layer, creating a luminous effect. Apparently unmarked.
