RUSSIAN SILVER CLOISONNE ENAMEL EGG CASE W STAND
A Russian silver gilt egg case consisting of two parts. The surface is covered with cobalt blue enamel over a gilt silver scale pattern. The upper part is decorated with round medallions depicting relief Imperial warrant eagles and set with an amethyst cabochon on top. The lower part is set with oval cabochon cut amethyst stones, the bottom is flat, covered with an orange guilloche enamel and having a double headed Imperial eagle overlay. Mounted on a figural stand modeled as four winged cherubs on a square jade pedestal raised on four silver foliage feet. The case and stand are hallmarked with an 88 silver standard, kokoshnik mark and other Russian hallmarks. Total weight: 1750 g.
