ANTIQUE RUSSIAN ORTHODOX SAINT ICON IN SILVER OKLAD - An antique Russian Orthodox travel icon of St. Theodosius of Chernigov. The mixed media icon with egg tempera, gesso, and levkas on a wood board. The icon is overlaid with an 84 gilt Silver oklad or riza, adorned with chased and engraved detailed patterns. Inscribed in Church Slavonic, lower to the center. Marked with an 84 standard Silver hallmark, and a makers mark. Theodosius, Polonitsky Uglitsky, early 1630s to 1696, Archbishop of Chernigov, venerated in the Russian Church as a Saint.
