RUSSIAN SOVIET CHILDRENS BOOK WITH ILLUSTRATIONS
An antique Russian early Soviet childrens book, Wolf Creek by Evgeny Lesnik. Illustrations by Vasily Kobelev. Published by The State Publishing House in Moscow, Leningrad, 1930. Circulation of 20000 copies. Numbered, 193941. Stamped with a bookplate of Gerzen Institutes Childrens Library and numbered inside. Yevgeny Vasilyevich Dubrovsky, pseudonym Lesnik, 1870 to 1941, a Russian Soviet writer, journalist, forester. In 1924 he moved to Leningrad, and in the same year he published his first short stories in the Evening Krasnaya Gazeta. He devoted himself exclusively to literary activity, writing about nature. Taking on the pseudonym Lesnik, Dubrovsky emphasized that in his works he shares his impressions gained over the years of work in the forests. He was an employee of the children's magazines Yezh, Hedgehog, and Chizh. In total, from 1924 to 1941, Dubrovsky wrote about 40 books, of which about 30 were books for children.
