The cover is illustrated by A. Komarov, signed in the plate with initials lower left. Publishing House of G. F. Mirimanov, third edition, 1927. Circulation of 40000 copies. Stamped with a bookplate of Gerzen Institutes Childrens Library, exlibris, and numbered, 3772, inside and on the cover. Henryk Sienkiewicz, also Heinrich Iosifovich Sienkiewicz, 1846 to 1916, a Polish writer, known as the author of historical novels, winner of the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1905. Along with Eliza Orzeszko and Bolesław Prus, he belonged to a galaxy of prominent Polish realists of the 19th century.
