ANTIQUE RUSSIAN SILVER TRINKET BOX WITH SUVOROV
An antique early 19th-century Russian silver trinket box. Round shape, parcel-gilt inside. The cover is repousse and chased with the profile portrait of Count Alexander Vasilevich Suvorov. Titled in Russian along the rim within a laurel border: Count Alexander Vasilevich Suvorov Rimnik Gen. in Chief. Additionally inscribed in Russian, CLF Copied by Pritki beneath. The base is chased and engraved with an allegory of the victories of Rimnik, Ismail, Fokchani and Kinburn in 1787, 1789 and 1790. Marked IBG. Weight: 238 grams. Provenance: Christies, Auction 2693, Russian Works of Art, April 15, 2013, lot 93. The item comes with the auctions label sticker. Count Alexander Suvorov-Rymniksky, Prince of Italy, 1730 to 1800, was a Russian general in service of the Russian Empire and the Habsburg monarchy.
