ANTIQUE VIETNAMESE HOI AN SHIPWRECK CERAMIC BOWLS
A pair of antique 15th-century Vietmanese unglazed ceramic bowls. Each piece has a Saga Hoi An Hoard Visal sticker on the bottom, personal numbers 175878 and 173373. The lot also includes a Chinese Ming Dyansty white-glazed bowl with hand-painted blue underglaze floral decor, with a 1960s auction label sticker on the bottom. The Hoi An ship, discovered in the South China Sea in the early 1990s, was carrying a large cargo of Vietnamese ceramics dated to the mid to late 15th century. The provenance of the pieces was known to be the kilns of the Red River Delta. All pieces unique to the cargo were retained by Vietnams museums for display, the remaining items was sold at US auctions. Collectible Oriental Asian Ceramics And Eartheware, Historical Relics.
