Viktor Efimovich Popkov, Russian, Soviet era, 1932 to 1974, watercolor painting on paper depicting a rural landscape with a herd. Signed, lower left. Viktor Popkov is a Russian artist, painter, and graphic artist, one of the founders of the Severe style in painting. He painted pictures-parables with their inherent symbolism, nothing superfluous can be found in his paintings. Metaphorical, poetic, conventional, vitality of the pictorial language are the main features that can be gleaned from his work. One of a kind artwork.
