RUSSIAN GARDNER FAIRYTALE SERIES PORCELAIN FIGURE
An antique Russian hand painted porcelain figurine, Ivanushka with the humpbacked horse from a triptych, by the Gardner Factory, Dmitrov Porcelain Factory in Verbilki. The figurine is made at a high level, and naturally painted. Sculpted by Sergei Mikhailovich Orlov, 1911 to 1973, a Russian Soviet era sculptor and Peoples Artist of the RSFSR. Marked in black ink stamp, Gardner Factory in Verbilki, under the coat of arms, 1C, and numbered, under the base. An impressed stamp, S. Orlov, on the base. The Little Humpbacked Horse is a Russian literary fairy tale in verse, written by Pyotr Ershov in the 1830s. The main characters are the peasant son Ivanushka the Fool and the magic humpbacked horse. This is a classic piece of Russian childrens literature. The famous Gardner factory was considered the best porcelain enterprise of the Russian Empire.
