An antique German Meissen porcelain figure group depicting the abduction of Proserpine by Pluto after a model by J.J. Kandler. The panicked beauty held aloft by the claret draped god, before a tree, on a rocaille-molded base. Marked and numbered underneath. The Rape of Proserpina is based on the Latin myth of Proserpina, which is found in both Ovids Metamorphoses and Claudians De Raptu Proserpinae. Circa the late 19th century.
